Virtual Gallery

Virtual Gallery

The virtual gallery is a project that was created for an academic in Health Wellbeing and Life Sciences (HWLS for short). Normally in HWLS they would showcase students' work face to face, however this hasn't been possible due to Covid. Working collaboratively with the Digital Learning Team we provided a solution where students could have their submitted posters automatically displayed on a webpage. The website could then be shared amongst students and staff.

The process of the gallery is that students will submit their posters to a Google Form. The Google Sheet assigned to the form has all the entries and a folder is created where all the posters are kept. A website will then display all the posters in the Google Sheet to a webpage.

The gallery is currently being used in two modules to present dissertation and research posters.

The above video explains the process of the gallery and how it’s being used in a module in HWLS.

Potential Use Cases

The following are some example use cases where the gallery could be used:

  • Showcasing research and dissertation posters
  • Presenting students work
  • Displaying work for conferences

Timescale

The gallery took 3-4 months to complete. To recreate the gallery, it would take up to 7 working days to get a version ready.

Client Involvement

The client would need to provide the following information in order for a version of the gallery to be created:

  • Information about how the landing page will be split
  • Title of the webpages
  • Total amount of posters in the landing page
  • Amount of posters that you want displayed on each webpage
  • Picture and caption of each image in the landing page
  • Google Form for students to complete
  • Colour scheme
