ECG Resource

ECG Resource

The ECG Resource is currently being made for all Paramedic Science students to complete. It is a resource which guides students through the anatomy of the heart, the electrical system of the heart, ECG preparation, how to take an ECG and how to interpret an ECG reading. The resource is a mixture of videos that we filmed of a paramedic conducting an ECG on a person, animations to explain the heart and also quiz questions for students to complete. The resource will be in use with all undergraduate Paramedic students in September.

Potential Use Cases

This resource will be a standalone resource for students to complete online. It will be used for students as part of their online simulation activities. It will also be useful for students to revisit during their revision periods.

Timescales

This project began in February 2021 with an aim to complete by the end of September 2021. There have been 2 members of staff building the resource and this included a filming day in which we had a paramedic, a model, and members of the technical team to film the process of an ECG for this resource. It would probably take around the same time and resource to recreate a project of similar structure.

Client Involvement

The academic staff have provided us with material to learn the process of an ECG. They were also heavily involved in the filming day, and the paramedic who performed the ECG for the videos was a member of SHU academic staff. The academics will also be providing scripts for the voiceover of the resource.
