Moving a Zoom or Teams recording into Panopto

This guide has two parts. The first part details how to download the recording from the video conferencing platform you used to record in, and the second part details how to upload the recording to Panopto. 

Please note that you must be the meeting organiser to download the recordings in Teams and Zoom. 

Only meetings that were recorded during the session will have a recording. Other people may have activated the recording, but the recording will be stored on the person's account who created the Zoom or Teams invite. 

 

How to download a meeting recording from Zoom

Step 1. Sign into Zoom at https://shu.zoom.us

Step 2. In the left-hand navigation, click [Recordings & Transcripts].

Step 3. Open the [Cloud Recordings] tab. In the Topic column, click the title of the meeting for which you wish to download a recording.

Step 4. Next to the recording you want to download, click the [Download] button.

Step 5. Follow the prompts on your computer to save the files to your computer. (Depending on your recording settings, there may be more than one file to download. The video file you will upload to Panopto will have the file extension .mp4).

 

How to download a meeting recording from Teams

Option a)
Step 1. Navigate to the Files or Shared tab in the meeting chat, channel, or meeting in your Teams (not Outlook) calendar. 
Step 2. Find and select the file. 
Step 3. Select [More Options] > ]Download].
Step 4. Download to your desktop or somewhere memorable.

Option b)
If you are the meeting organiser, You can also access the recording via your OneDrive. 

Step 1. Go to OneDrive > My Files > Recordings
Step 2. Find the meeting you want, select the ellipses (...), and select [Download]
Step 3. Download to your desktop or somewhere memorable 

 

How to upload to Panopto

This guide refers to the upload process within Blackboard Ultra.

Step 1. Log in to Blackboard and access the module site where you want the recording to appear.

Step 2. It is recommended that you use the [Panopto Folder Embed] folder in the first instance and then share the video to the precise location once you have uploaded it. If you have not configured the Panopto Folder Embed for your site yet, please see our guide. 
Click on the [Panopto Folder Embed] folder. 

Step 3. In the new screen view click on [Create]

Step 4. Click on [Upload Media]

Step 5. Now drag and drop your video file into the upload box. You can close this window once the upload bar has been completed. 
The file is now ready to share within the site or edit as a new video. Please see our editing and/or recording guides for more information.
