Sharing Event Codes

This article provides details of support when students are sharing Event Codes generated in Jisc learning analytics.

Student’s accurate attendance is crucial for underpinning the support mechanisms in place from Student Success & Engagement Team, as well as for external reporting purposes (e.g., apprenticeship provision, PSRB requirements, UKVI requirements).

If you are aware that students are sharing codes, we encourage academic colleagues to stop this behaviour in first instance. When you view the live register in Jisc learning analytics, you can see students’ attendance change as they enter the Event Code into Study Goal. Across the top of the register, you can see a count of overall attendance. If you notice that the number of students registering their attendance is more than those in the room, do say something about this to your students.

All Sheffield Hallam students are expected to abide by the Student Code of Conduct: acting with honesty and integrity and complying with university regulations, policies, procedures and codes of practice.

If this behaviour continues, we will be emailing modules or course cohorts noting the importance of their regular engagement and linking students to the Student Code of Conduct. If you would like support, please email learning-analytics@shu.ac.uk with details of the module or course.
