Submitting Module Marks to Assessment Teams

From 23 March 2026 the University will move to the new Blackboard marks transfer tool to submit module marks for processing by the Assessment Team in Registry Services. This will transfer marks directly into SITS.

Module leaders are responsible for ensuring that marks are accurate at the point they are submitted.

Most 2025/26 module marks will be submitted via the new marks transfer process.

The following module marks cannot be transferred using the marks transfer process:

  • Modules with a pass/fail task
  • Continued reassessment marks from previous years

Module leaders in this position will be emailed with guidance on how to submit their marks.

Principles for Entering Marks in Gradebook

  • First sit tasks: A mark must be provided for all students. A numerical mark of zero should be given for students who do not submit.
  • Reassessment tasks: A mark should be provided for students who submit. As Gradebook doesn’t show which students are expected to submit reassessment tasks, non-submissions should be left blank. The Assessment Team will record these as zero in SITS.
  • Note: Module leaders do not need to check if a student has an accepted EC or stage 2 extension. The Assessment Team will check all marks of zero and where a student has an accepted EC/stage 2 extension this will be recorded in SITS.
  • A mark of 1 should be given for students where there are academic integrity concerns. This mark should not be posted to students on Blackboard. Once the outcome of the academic conduct investigation is concluded, the module leader should enter the actual mark into Gradebook, post to the student and complete the Mark Amendment Form. The Assessment Team will enter the mark into SITS.
  • All individual task grades must be submitted according to the University Grade Descriptors (DOCX, 66.8KB) and not pre-weighted according to the task weighting. Task weightings are set up in SITS and used to calculate the overall module mark.

Transferring Marks from Blackboard to SITS

Follow these instructions for how to transfer your marks directly to SITS.

  • Marks should only be transferred once there is a full set of task marks, including students who have had 5 and 10 day extensions
  • Blank marks should not be transferred
  • Reassessment marks must be transferred from the reassessment column in Gradebook
  • It is expected that all task marks are accurate at the point that they are transferred.

Requesting a Mark Amendment after Marks have been Transferred

If a mark(s) needs amending after it has been transferred to SITS, complete the Mark Amendment Form.
