Getting started with Groups

On Blackboard Ultra, you can use groups in a variety of ways such as: group assignments, groups discussions, to delegate marking and release certain content to specific groups.

Please note that you need to create a Group Set first, and then you create the Group(s). the functionality will not work until you have created both. Group Sets can be thought of as "folders" or "collections" of groups.  For example, you may want to have a different Group for each tutorial group, these could be put in a Group Set called "Tutorial groups"

Also note, that where you make work / documents / assignments available depending on what groups students are in, if a student is not in a group, they will not be able to see any assignments.

There are two options for creating Groups , you can either manually create the Group Set and then create Groups within it, OR create the Group Set and the Groups at the same time through the upload process. If you have a large cohort of students you want to sort into Groups, you may want to consider the ‘Upload’ method.
