Episode 7 - Authentic Assessment

Authentic assessment is becoming a hot topic by way of responding to concerns of inappropriate use of AI in assessment submissions. It is so much more than that though, join colleagues Vicky Mellon and Mick Marriott as they talk through what is meant by the term, and use examples from their courses to demonstrate how others could begin to embed or enhance authentic assessment in their subjects.

Associate Head, School of Engineering and Built Environment.

Vicky is an Associate Head in the school of EBE, where she has responsibilities for Teaching, Learning and Assessment Enhancement. Vicky has supported the school's revalidation and curriculum development that aims to embed authentic assessment through Project Based Learning and inclusive practice. She is passionate about achieving an excellent student through TLA in the school and enjoys developing working staff and students to embed authentic assessment throughout a range of modules and courses.

Mick Marriott

Mick Marriott, SFHEA

School of Computing & Digital Technologies

Mick is currently Course Leader for BSc Computer Science, BSc Computer Science with AI and BSc AI and Robotics. He uses his many years of industry experience to support, mentor and develop his students so that they are ready to undertake any challenge that the workplace may present them.

His research interests are around mindful implementation of technology in HE.
