We are now able to offer a clear developmental pathway in teaching and learning, from initial preparation through to advanced study at Levels 7 and 8. The participants will develop an understanding of planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation in higher education. Professional practice will be assessed through mentoring and teaching observation within the host Institute or School, with SIOE providing mentor training and support. Successful completion of the programme will lead to Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) with Advanced HE who are the professional body.
The UAPC is a short level 7 Post Graduate course (30 credits) designed specifically for Grade 6 academic staff who do not already hold, or are not currently working towards, a teaching qualification. The course supports the University's recruitment of unqualified academic staff by providing a rapid introduction to teaching and learning in higher education. The programme will have two annual entry points: cohorts in September and January.

Participants will be expected to attend all the above sessions, undertake the assessments associated with the course and have their teaching observed.
Observations will be carried out by Senior Fellows in your Institutes/Schools.
