Documents

Documents are a way of hosting mixed media materials on your Blackboard Ultra site, such as text content, embedded videos and external links.
A Document is very similar to what was called an Item in Blackboard Classic, but now looks more like a Microsoft Word document and has more multimedia abilities, making it much more visual.

To create a document:

Step 1. Press the Add Content plus symbol (+). There is one at the top of your module site's main page, or they also appear when you hover over the centre of the lines between items on the main page. (You can move the location afterwards if necessary).

Step 2. Then press Create

Step 3. The Create Item side panel will open on the right. From here press Document.

Step 4. This will open a new page. This page is your new Document.

Step 5. Rename the document by typing over the words ‘New Document …’ in the top left corner.

Step 6. Select from the dropdown menu at the top right whether to make it visible to participants (students).

Step 7. Add content from many different sources by selecting from the options in the middle pane.

a) Add Content lets you create a text box directly onto the document in which you can type, add URL links, or include attachments via the usual format tools options. (You can move this section around later when you have other content).

b) Add HTML lets you paste code or embed links into a section of the document. (you can move this around later when you have other content)

c) Upload from computer lets you upload from the device you are currently on.

d) Upload from Cloud Storage Currently, you can only upload files to the site using your Google Drive. OneDrive should be available soon.

e) Browse Content Collection lets you browse files already uploaded to the Blackboard site.

Step 8. You can edit or delete each section you have created by pressing on the 3 dots in the top right of the section.

Step 9. You can move each section by pressing and holding the 2 arrows icon and moving the section to where you want it. The two arrows only appear when you hover over the top right of that section.

Step 10. When you have finished creating your Document, make sure to save it using the save button at the bottom right of the creation box, and then close the page by clicking the red x in the top left of the page

Step 11. Your document now appears on the Blackboard site's main page. You can move it by pressing and holding the mouse button to select that section and dragging it to the desired location.
