Developed in response to positive student feedback and designed for flexible use within courses, the mini module enables a consistent, one university approach to supporting student success, while allowing course teams to tailor Course Induction delivery to their context.

The modules:

  • Welcome back: Getting Started at Level 6

Accessing the Hallam Mini-Modules

The Hallam Mini-Modules are now automatically included for use with students on newly requested Blackboard Course Organisation sites.

Promoting student engagement

It is up to course teams/schools/institutes to decide how best to implement the Hallam Mini-Modules. The pilot year evaluation showed that engagement with the mini-modules was best when they formed a mandatory part of an assessment, but engagement could still be successful when the modules were completed as part of a teaching activity or when staff signposted to them.

Troubleshooting student issues

A few students have reported issues with the Hallam Mini-Modules not loading. This has typically been due to using an outdated browser or having browser settings which block pop-ups. The Hallam Mini-Modules pop-up open in a new window so pop-ups need to be enabled for them to work.
