Liz Austen is Professor of Higher Education Evaluation and Associate Dean Learning, Teaching & Student Success at Sheffield Hallam University and Principal Fellow (AdvanceHE).

Liz Austen is Professor of Higher Education Evaluation and Associate Dean Learning, Teaching & Student Success at Sheffield Hallam University, and Principal Fellow (AdvanceHE). She also works as an independent Evaluation Consultant and is a regular keynote speaker on all things evaluation in HE. Her focus is on evidence informed practice across the student lifecycle. Her research and evaluation within higher education has been funded by sector bodies (OFS, QAA, AdvanceHE) and has been published in peer review publications. She also regularly write in national blogs such as Wonkhe. Liz also leads a cross sector network called the Evaluation Collective.

Julian Crockford

Julian’s current research and evaluation work focuses on student experience and inclusivity across all stages of the student lifecycle, including access, transition and academic engagement. More broadly, Julian is interested in how theories of change can help us understand and increase the impact of interventions in this area. He has over a decade of experience working in widening participation research and evaluation and Julian recently completed an EdD focusing on how complexity theory influences the way we think about our student interventions.
