Sarah Forbes

Dr Sarah Forbes is a senior lecturer in microbiology and an associate head in The School of Bioscience and Chemistry. Her research background is originally within the field of microbial ecology and antimicrobial chemotherapy. As her schools assessment lead and course lead for the MSc and MRes in Molecular Microbiology she leads on school-wide enhancements in curriculum design and internationalisation. Her practice is informed by a commitment to inclusive pedagogy and  global perspectives. She is passionate about science communication and widening participation and currently helps lead a number of outreach events across Sheffield in collaboration with Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Museums Trust.

Oliver Lewis

Oliver Lewis is an Associate Head in the School of Engineering and Built Environment. With a background in Materials Engineering, he completed his PhD before joining Sheffield Hallam University in 2008. Alongside his academic and leadership roles, he’s a strong advocate for inclusive practice in STEM — a commitment shaped not just by professional experience, but by his own journey through higher education. Having faced challenges around accessibility and wellbeing as a student, Oliver is passionate about making STEM a space where everyone feels they belong and can succeed.
