Sheffield Hallam University uses Jisc Learning Analytics to monitor engagement. This will allow colleagues to observe student engagement and allow them to target and improve student support with the aim of improving student success and increasing student retention. Academic Advisers are expected to use Learning Analytics to inform the support given to students in the following ways:
- By taking GDPR compliant notes of meetings with students. Please refer to our GDPR guidance for Academic Advisers and our ‘How to record a note on a student’ guide.
- By allowing the recording of attendance at meetings you have with your advisees using Jisc Learning Analytics. Please refer to our ‘How to take attendance in Jisc Learning Analytics’ screencast.
- By using the student engagement metrics in Jisc Learning Analytics to inform conversations with advisees. Please note, AAs are not expected to proactively track and monitor advisees engagement; the Student Success & Engagement Team proactively support students using student engagement metrics in Jisc Learning Analytics.
