Student view of learning analytics

This article provides a brief overview of Study Goal. Please refer to Study Goal on MyHallam page for more information. 

Study Goal

Study Goal is a progressive web app that student's use to view their student engagement data as collected via Jisc learning analytics system. Students are encouraged to review Study Goal upon enrolment at the university as part of their Hallam Welcome Module. Study Goal is only for Sheffield Hallam students; staff can not login to Study Goal. 

Students can do and see the following engagement metrics in Study Goal:

  • Check-in to their taught activity.
  • View their attendance engagement metric for the past 14 days.
  • View their Blackboard engagement metric for the past 14 days.
  • View their Blackboard submission metric for the past 28 days. 

 

Login Troubleshooting

Should students experience any issues accessing or logging in to Study Goal, common troubleshooting is listed below.

Incorrect code, please try again.

The Event Code the student entered is incorrect.

Student should check that the Event Code they entered is the correct code. The academic tutor can provide the correct code.

Check in not yet open.

The student can not yet check in to this event because it is before the start time.

Students can check in to events 10 minutes before the start of an event.

Student should wait to check in until the event starts.

Check in now closed.

The student has entered the Event Code after the event has ended.

Academic tutor can amend student's attendance at any taught activity. Staff can see details of how to do that inTaking Attendance Guides.

You already checked into this event.

The student has already checked in to this event. Their attendance has been recorded.

No action necessary.

An error occurred! Please try again.

There is a technical error that has occurred.

The student should try to login again using their student email address (e.g., Firstname.Surname@student.shu.ac.uk). The student should enter their student username (e.g., c1234567) and password.

If the error message persists, the student should contactIT Helpfor assistance.
